Sept 12 (Hindu) Sri Lanka's State Minister of Education Velusami Radhakrishnan on Tuesday welcomed the Tamil Nadu government's decision to recommend the release of the seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
Speaking to journalists at the Chennai Press Club, he congratulated the State for taking a decision that will bring comfort to the Tamil people. and said that the Sri Lankan citizens among the convicts should stay in India and wait for their government to take a decision on their repatriation.
Mr. Radhakrishnan was in Chennai to invite various individuals to a celebration of former chief minister M.G. Ramachandran's birth centenary in his birthplace of Kandy, Sri Lanka. He said that Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and School Education Minister K.A. Sengottaiayan will be among those who are scheduled to attend the event.
