Feb 12 (PTI) Surajkund (Har)- Fairs like the Surajkund International Crafts Mela will be organised in Sri Lanka, the island nation's High Commissioner Prasad Kariyawasam said here today. He said that discussion will be held with the Surajkund Mela Authority in this regard.
Kariyawasam, who paid a visit to the fair here today said, artists and craftsmen have been provided with an international level platform by the Haryana government.
Comparing the culture of both countries, he said that the Sinhala language of Sri Lanka is quite similar to Sanskrit and Pali languages and both countries have equal devotion to Buddhism. India and Sri Lanka share similar cultural heritage, he said, adding that maximum number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka are from India and vice-versa. Artists and craftspersons from 21 country and other parts of the world besides those from neighbouring SAARC nations are displaying their crafts in the 15-day long cultural and handicrafts extravaganza at the fair.
